All About Me
My name is Taylor Miller and I am originally from Fishers, Indiana. Growing up, I went to local public school with my three siblings. From the start, I fell in love with learning. There was something about school that I loved but could never quite figure out what it was. Ever since fourth grade I have been growing an interest in teaching. In middle school I had a teacher who was a real inspiration to me. Everyday she challenged her students to be better than they were the day before. She is one of the main reasons why I am pursuing teaching. My senior year of high school I was given the amazing opportunity to be a Cadet Teacher in a local junior high special education classroom. Throughout the year I was challenged to complete lesson plans and work with students individually or in groups. This was hands-on learning that I could not learn anywhere else. Although I had already been considering teaching, this solidified my passion for teaching.
Why Teach?
I believe that, as a teacher, my students should realize through learning, that they can change their life in a positive way. I want to help all of my students believe in themselves and through that belief, take on the challenges of life and go forward throughout the world. Growing up, I had a teacher that taught me how to be excited about learning while challenging me everyday to reach my full potential. Someday, I hope to make the same impact on my students as she did for me.
Pedagogical Belief as a Teacher:
In my future classroom, I will do all that I can to assess the needs of all of my students. I understand that every student is a different learner and has their own individual needs. I understand the effects of peer interaction and believe that students should learn from social interactions in the classroom. I want all of my students to achieve the highest level of success as possible. I plan to structure learning so that my students will productively collaborate and learn from one another over the majority of class time.
Technology Use in the Classroom.Everyday, new technology is being created and is helping advance our lives inside and outside of the classroom. I believe that technology can be another resource to acquire knowledge in the classroom. Everyday new ideas, theories, facts, etc. are being discovered and technology can help spread this knowledge throughout the world. In my classroom, I plan to use technology in a way to advance my students knowledge in the event that I cannot provide the information myself.
